Provides fast assessment of relative salt content in a wide range of moist or semi-solid food products. This meter depends on the presence of moisture in or on the measured medium and does not measure salt as a total mass. It produces a reliable but arbitrary reading against a taste/appearance standard acceptable to the producer. Once this has been determined the reading displayed becomes the datum point against which all product is tested.
